Salkantay Trekking Machu Picchu 5D/4N

This trek is one of the alternatives to reach Machupicchu. On the way you can feel the change of the different ecological levels, from subtropical zones and impressive glacier peaks, until you reach the Citadel of Machu Picchu.


Day 01 Cusco - Mollepata - Soraypampa

We start from the city of Cusco in our private bus toward Mollepata, a village which is located at a height of 9383.2 ft. From here you can see some snow mountains than they belong to the chain of Salcantay, which surpass the 15091.86 ft.  then we continue our trip for about 40 minutes to Sayllapata, from this place we will walk 3 hour hike and a half approximately by a channel, seeing an extraordinary variety of flora and fauna up to Soraypampa, where we will have the lunch. After the delight of our lunch and a brief rest, we climb towards the sacred lake called Humantay, a great jewel of nature surrounded by impressive snow-capped. After that we will descend to Soraypampa where we will spend the night.

Day 02 Soraypampa – Salkantay – Chaullay

After our breakfast we will climb until we reach Salkantay pass, which has an altitude of 15 091.86 feet. From this location you can enjoy a spectacular view of the snowy peaks and one of them is the second highest in the region of Cusco called Salkantay, here we will have a small ceremony to the wonderful mountains. After that We will go down until the lunch place, approximately 2 hours, where we will have lunch and after a brief break we will continue our walk down for approximately 3 hours until you reach CHAWLLAY 9514.44 ft. Located in area of jungle high with lots of vegetation and a climate warmer than the second campsite here we will organize our second overnight.

Day 03 Chaullay – Sahuayaco - Santa Teresa

After our breakfast we will go through the high jungle, crossing the Lluskamayo River you'll see many small streams. We will go through some valleys magnificent, wonderful waterfalls, also we will see many varieties of plants and tropical fruits, such as coca plantation considered the sacred leaf of our ancestors of the Inca Empire, which is

currently cultivated in tropical regions, this last section will be downhill to playa Sahuayaco, where we will enjoy of our lunch.  After lunch we will go bay car to the town of Santa Teresa, here we will have the chance to enjoy the hot springs which has an additional cost. In the evening we will have dinner.

Day 04 Santa Teresa – Hydroelectrical – Aguas Calientes

After breakfast we will have the choice to do the zip line (extra cost) then we will go to the hydro electrical plant bay car from this place it will take 03 hours walking thought rail road to get Aguas Calientes town where you will have spent night in hostel, during the dinner your tour guide will explain you the Machupicchu tour.

Day 5 Aguas Calientes – Machupicchu - Cusco

Breakfast in the hotel to start our ascent to the majestic Inca city Machupicchu (by bus), in Machupicchu we will have 02 hours explanation approximately with our professional tour guide who will give us the relevant information.

In the afternoon return from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo, then we will pick you up to come back to Cusco bay car.
